Our mission

We will provide a radio service which is fully inclusive and representative of the entire community. We will fill the gap left behind by mainstream local radio whose programming is determined by what sells the most advertising time. Our content will cover a broad spectrum of music and speech-based programming which will cater equally for people from all walks of life. We will broadcast with honesty, integrity and complete transparency while maintaining a strong ethical stance over tackling inequality and driving-out prejudice and discrimination that many people face in other aspects of their life.

Only community radio can do this and Ocean City Radio is setting the trend in the Plymouth area. We can do it because we are not motivated by money. We have no owners or shareholders and no debt. Neither do we have a wages bill because the entire team are volunteers.

Ocean City Radio is classed as a ‘hybrid’ radio station because it broadcasts on the local DAB network in addition to its simulcast via the internet. Ocean City Radio is the only station of its kind in the area and is kept afloat financially by regular subscriptions from the team, small-scale advertising by local businesses and generous sponsorship from a handful of well known companies in the vicinity.

Our team members are highly motivated and love doing what they do. So much so that around a third are originals from when we launched in 2018.

Founder/Operations & Compliance Director

Steve presents the very successful interactive love song show known as Night Flight on Sunday evenings from 8pm. It features four tracks of his choosing followed by two and three quarter hours of listener requests.

Operations Manager. Steve is at the forefront of the day to day running of the station. In addition, he has worked miracles to raise much needed funds to keep us afloat. Steve is also a great advocate and has built numerous relationships with valuable external organisations that we now work alongside. Steve presents 'Rowlee On The Radio' on Wednesday afternoons. It has a broad spectrum of content with a focus on indie rock.

Finance Manager. Paul takes care of everything 'money'. He is a wizard when it comes to book-keeping and is responsible for re-shaping the station's finances and taking us into the realms of being a viable business.

Company Director/Presenter. Rich presents two shows each week. The Nu Disco Show on Sundays at 6pm and The Allsorts Show on Saturday afternoons with Marianne Jarvis. Rich also takes responsibility for outside broadcasts out and about in the community.

Community Liaison Manager. Chris creates and maintains relations with external agencies in relation to independent music creators. In addition, he presents 'The Chill Zone' on Monday evenings and 'Eclectic' on a Tuesday. Chris is also responsible for the production of 'The Ocean City Showcase' alongside his co-host Zac Gribble.

Presenter. Shaun lives and breathes Ocean City Radio. His alter ego is Batman and his heroine Kylie Minogue. He presents The Shaunie Show on Tuesday evenings. Its a mix of music, facts and hilarity featuring segments like 'The Evans Eleven', 'Common People' and 'The Question Of The Day'. The Shaunie Show has hosted an array of interviews with community based sports, leisure and social support organisations. Shaun has an occasional co-host known as The Kerching, who will be known to regular listeners to the show.

Presenter. Al is well versed with radio presenting which is reflected in the professional feel of his shows on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons known as 'Drivetime with Al'. Drivetime also attracts high profile guests which Al features regularly. He has most recently interviewed Luke Pollard, Fred Thomas and Rebecca Smith from the political spectrum.

Presenter. Jack is a long serving and highly valued member of team who presents 'Sounds of the 90s and 21st Century on Monday afternoons. He is one of the few of us who caters for the younger and older generations alike. He is active at our outside broadcasts and conducted some excellent interviews with leading names in sport.

Presenter. John is a well experienced presenter who is one of our newest members. He is heavily into independent music and presents 'Iconic Indies' on Thursday evenings at 8 o'clock. John is also a 'Mental Health First Aid' Advocate.

Presenter. Joe has joined Ocean City Radio as the host of the brand-new Ocean City Radio - Sports Show (Bought to you by Argyle 50/50). It will be live every Thursday from 8pm-10pm. Focussing on Argyle, Albion, Gladiators and ALL local sports clubs from all levels of recreational activity. Joe has a vast knowledge of local sports clubs which will be supported by that of different guest presenters every week. The Sports Show is primarily a speech-based programme with occasional music breaks to allow presenters to calm down and gather their thoughts.

Hi. I am Dave, known by some as the Smiley one. I will be playing some tunes from my teens and up to date. Hope you will like them. Hopefully I can fit in some theme days and star artist of the day. Catch me on. Thursdays from 2 to 4pm.

Presenter. Marianne is the co-presenter of The Allsorts Show on Saturdays at midday. She also makes a major contribution to our outside broadcasts and has a talent for motivating the crowds.

Presenter. Affectionately known as Nigee, he presents Strictly Retro on Friday evenings at 7 o'clock. Featuring hits from the 70s and 80s that were published on vinyl back in the day. His musical knowledge is vast, which is very evident in the content of the show.

Presenter. Nige, AKA John Nigel presents The John Nigel Show on Sundays at 3pm. It focuses mainly on music from the 50s and 60s which he has an excellent knowledge of.

Presenter. Sophie presents The Definitive Album Show. Each week she covers a specific year and has an extraordinary knowledge for a person of her years. She is currently our youngest presenter which is NOT reflected in her level of professionalism. Catch Sophie each Sunday at 11am.

Presenter. Neil presents The Neil Farley Show on Wednesdays at 7pm. He is one of our longest serving members of the team having been with us for over six and a half years. His show content is eclectic and features Plymouth Argyle updates and stories during the football season.

Presenter. Theresa is our 'Queen of Interviewing' who has a very impressive portfolio of celebrities and local agencies that have featured on her show. 'Sounds Divine' airs on Thursdays at 10am with musical content that lends itself mainly to the 70s and 80s in the form of disco and funk.

Presenter. Trev is a long serving member of the team who is just embarking on a new slot in the Ocean City Radio programme schedule. Trev will bring The Trev Jackett Show to your radio on Saturday nights at 8pm with his usual features including...Birthdays, Love Song, Guilty Pleasure and your requests.
